(Stafford Springs, CT)---The NASCAR Busch North Series will return to
Stafford Motor Speedway for the first of two visits during the 2005 season
on Friday night, June 17 for the 15th annual Aubuchon Hardware 150. The
field of cars will include Stafford’s defending SK Modified® and Late Model
track champions, Ted Christopher and Ryan Posocco.
Christopher joins the #35 team that Brad Leighton drove to three wins last
season on a limited schedule. Christopher himself has 9 career Busch North
Series victories, with one of them coming at Stafford, and is looking
forward to getting back into the Busch North Series and racing at Stafford.
“I haven’t raced a Busch car in a while, and I’m looking forward to the race
at Stafford,” said Christopher. “Over the winter, the team gave me a call
and asked me if I would drive for them this year. Brad Leighton won in that
car last year, so it’s a good piece, and we’re going to go for another win
at Stafford.”
Also part of the field will be Posocco, who will be looking to make his
Busch North Series debut at his home track after starting his career in the
DARE Stocks and moving up to the Late Model class. Posocco faces learning a
new car, as well as having to time trial his way into the field for the
first time in his racing career.
“We’re looking to try something different, so we’re going to see if we like
the Busch North,” said Posocco. “I think that the biggest thing for me is
going to be getting used to the car. We’ve tested twice at Stafford, and we
feel like we’re where we need to be. The last time I had to time trial into
a race was in quarter midgets, but I feel like if we can back up the speed
we ran from our test, that we’ll make the show.”
In addition to Posocco, Kenny Horton is another Late Model competitor who
will be looking to make his Busch North Series debut during the Aubuchon
Hardware 150.
“I don’t think either of those guys will have a problem adapting to the
Busch car,” said Christopher. “I’ve done it so many times in my career that
it isn’t that difficult for me, but those guys are used to the heavier cars,
and they have the mindset for driving a Busch car. I think the key when you
move over to the Busch car is to slow yourself down, and I don’t think they’
ll have too many problems adapting.”
Several other current or former Stafford weekly competitors have entered the
Aubuchon Hardware 150. Charles Lewandoski is a former Late Model
competitor, Matt Kobyluck is a former ProStock competitor, and Jerry Marquis
and Mike Molleur are former SK Modified® competitors. Busch North standouts
Andy Santerre, Dave Dion, Brad Leighton, Mike Stefanik, Mike Olsen, Ryan
Moore, and Mike Johnson are also entered, giving the Aubuchon Hardware 150 a
mix of veteran and rookie drivers alike.
The 15th annual Aubuchon Hardware 150 will be carried live onHDNet TV and
will be rebroadcast on SPEED Channel on Friday, July 8 at 2:00pm. Tickets
